There is armor in this game, but I never felt excited to find a new armor. You would get a higher hp value, a higher armor value, maybe a slight damage increase and occasionally it would be a 2-3-4item set that was often not even worth using. I Core Keeper Gameplay would often find weapons and armor that were clearly a massive jump in player strength, but only in a numbers sense. This is all to say, the weapon and armor progression feels too disjointed and is not something that I looked forward to due to the boring nature of these "upgrades".

At least I managed to swing my sword and not a pudding this time. But afterwards I ran back home through brightly lit tunnels as fast as my little legs could take me, and now I'm cooking up some glowing larvae steaks.

I usually don't like darkness in games. When prompted at the start of a horror game to adjust a slider until the logo can barely be seen, I move that damn slider as far to the right as it'll go.

You’ll have goals in mind, sure — maybe you want to find a certain ore to craft a certain helmet with a certain perk before facing a boss — but it can be just as easy to pick a direction, any direction, and start tunneling.

Boss order and world exploration are theoretically quite flexible, given this is a sandbox game. There is currently only one solid gate to progress: defeating the first 3 bosses. Which separates this guide into two parts.
